152MC – The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly
In my inspiration pack which Matt gave us last week contained a book called The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly. At the moment I’ve only read the first chapter, and I’m enjoying it so far. For this review of the book I’m going to read each chapter and document what I think about it and what is going on through one blog post.
CHAPTER 1 – I REFUSE TO LAY ANOTHER EGG!
The first chapter is about a chicken named Sprout. She was a egg-laying hen, so all good of her for a farmer was to only lay eggs. Sprout named herself sprout, ‘Sprout was the best name in the world. A sprout grew into a leaf and embraced the wind and the sun before falling and rotting and turning into mulch for bringing fragrant flowers into bloom. Sprout wanted to do something with her life, just like the sprouts on the acacia tree. That was why she’d named herself after them.’ This hen wanted to do something with her life other than make eggs for the farmer to take away from her. She wanted to raise her own chicken in an egg that she has layed, but the farmer stops herself from doing so. The themes that come with this chapter is Motherhood, as she has a desire to be a mother. As soon as she realises that she layed an uncompleted egg, she was heartbroken.
CHAPTER 2 – FLYING THE COOP
CHAPTER 3 – INTO THE BARN
CHAPTER 4 – THE EGG IN THE BRIAR PATCH
CHAPTER 5 – A FAREWELL AND A GREETING
CHAPTER 6 – A DISGRACE TO THE COMB
CHAPTER 7 – CERTAINLY A DUCK
